Sterling Pathology

Case

Old phone system with no support

Solution

Sterling Pathology had a Cisco UC540 phone system with no support from Cisco and the company that deployed it no longer exists. Unfortunately, the managers did not have proper documentation or proper credentials to access the phone systems to make changes. Also, they were using a PRI circuit for their 18 analog lines. They were paying approximately $500.00 per month for that service. Sterling Pathology grew tired of not being able to make simple changes to the system because of a lack of proper credentials.

EZ Computer Solutions resolved their issue by giving them a solution. The solution was to go the route of having a Voice over IP phone system. This will allow Sterling Pathology to have full access to how they want to route their calls and not be confined to one location. They have one satellite office. EZ Computer Solutions created an implementation plan in deploying VoIP phone system without having any downtime. EZ Computer Solutions made sure to talk to all carriers to make sure they were not under any contract. Found out the procedure to port over the existing numbers to the new VoIP carrier. Then did the research on the phones and ordered a temporary phone to demonstrate to the owner what it looks like and how it will be used and created a similar phone system setup similar to what they currently have. Once the owner approved EZCS looked for the best pricing for Polycom VoIP phones. Then created all the user accounts, extensions, and voicemails for the phone system. Then designed the flow route of how the calls will go through. Then tested the system on all the lines and extensions to make sure it will go through smoothly. Worked with the VoIP carrier on a scheduled date to port over the phone numbers. Deployed the phone system the day before and tested the lines out with temporary numbers and made sure there were no glitches. Then monitored the porting process with the VoIP company and made sure all the numbers that were scheduled for transfer were completed. Then we were on standby for any unusual glitches.

Preferred Paving

Case

Old camera system was not clear and the remote monitor did not work properly

Solution

EZ Computer Solutions designed and worked with management on the location of the cameras to monitor the whole campus. EZCS did the research on which cameras to get based on the location. Then demonstrated the camera quality to management for approval while we were running the data cables for the cameras. EZCS offered to Preferred Paving to re-route some of the office network cables to be much cleaner. Once the approval of the bid for the camera system was given, then EZCS designed the route of how the wiring would be done. Since they had two buildings on campus, EZCS created two hubs that would talk to each other. All the cameras on building two would connect to hub two and all the cameras on building one would connect to hub one. The two hubs would be linked so it would combine all the cameras under one network. The way EZCS was able to accomplish this was through having two managed 48-port PoE switches with two SFP uplinks. Then tested all the cameras and labeled the camera name/location, MAC addresses, and IP addresses. Then document that information on a spreadsheet. Did the same on all the wiring for the cameras. Then install the app on all of management’s phones and PCs. Finally, trained the staff on how to use the cameras and view the recordings. Any unforeseen glitches, EZCS came in and resolved the issue. The key to designing the camera system was to minimize exposed wiring. That is why EZCS used two hubs to minimize wiring between the two buildings.
